Re: 5/21[Sat.] Histrionic Personality Disorder/Bill Cosby Scandal(H: Michael)
I learned the terms AFAB and AMAB in the article. Cool!! We may see something like "The AFAB Arab married an AMAB rabbi." in the future. This is also the first time I came across the two terms, AFAB and AMAB. Hopefully, they will remain being medical or biological jargon. If in the future whe...

Re: 5/14 (Sat) Fight monsters & become a monster (Host: David Jr.)
Abyss can mean setbacks and struggles that we are suffering in life. If we give the lion’s share of our focus to them and wallow in self-pity, it is likely that we become full of negativity and constantly radiate negative thoughts and energy. That will eventually drive away people who could possibly...

Re: 5/7 (Sat) News flash & An End to Procrastination (Host: Janet)
I am lucky enough to be only a situational procrastinator, not a chronic one. Tasks that I tend to procrastinate are either things that are not so enjoyable but need to get done, like house chores, or complicated work that require much time and efforts. Filing tax returns by end of this June happens...

Re: 4/30 (Sat) How to identify what you enjoy-How to build a happy life (Host: Julia Ho)
Another thing that confuses me is the different terms being used when the host and the guest of the podcast were talking about the topic of happiness – happiness, enjoyment, pleasure, joy, and having fun. What are their definition each? I'm not sure, but here is my best shot. - Having fun is doing t...

It is difficult to answer the 3rd question because the idea that enjoyment is pleasure plus elevation was only mentioned once in this episode, without much explanation. We probably need to listen to previous episodes to understand what elevation means here.

Re: 4/23 (Sat.) (The Little Prince /Host: Christine H)
At first, I didn’t quite understand the meaning of ritual in the Little Prince, so I googled and figured out that it’s not very different from the concept of the habit loop. That finding however baffles me. A habit loop contains three elements: cue, routine, and reward. It is true that a well-establ...

Re: 4/16(Sat) How to Fill the Emptiness You Feel after Binging a Great Show (Host:Kooper)
Through a lot of recommendations, My Mister, a Korean TV drama, is one of the best works that has overwhelmingly impressed me. "My Mister" is also one of my favorite. It really touch me in some moment. After watching all episodes, I really feel empty for a while. I have recommended it to Kooper and...

I read this in the article: "In fact, Raymond explains that people with uninspiring real-life connections might require a regular dose of fantasy to keep their head up." I guess I'm in big trouble. :cccry: You are not alone Rock. Uninspiring trivia is often part and parcel of our everyday life. Tha...

Re: 4/9 (Sat) the power of nudge to win at behavioral change (Host:Rosie)
How can we apply the nudge technique at an individual level? The key is to design personal choice architectures that work best to us. For instance, to eat healthier, we could buy and use smaller plates and bowls, which painlessly cut the default size of serving for every meal. We can also arrange fo...

Re: 4/9 (Sat) the power of nudge to win at behavioral change (Host:Rosie)
Nudge is a fantastic approach for the public sector to intervene people’s behaviors without infringing on their freedom of choice. What’s even appealing is that the intervention can be made in a least intrusive and less costly way. Given all these potential benefits that the nudge approach brings, a...

Re: 4/2 (Sat.) The Changing World Order (Host: Iris)
1. According to the author’s study of major historical transitions in the past 500 years, what are the three forces that drove the previous empires (Netherland, British, etc.) to decline? Do you see they are happening simultaneously now? The three forces are: (1)When an empire has been so heavily i...

Re: 4/2 (Sat.) The Changing World Order (Host: Iris)
3. Why have the three monetary policies, lower short-term interest rate, lower long-term interest rate, and the “debt monetization”, become problematic to the US? What will be the full impact of these money and credit policies on the rise and fall of an empire? Both lower interest rates, be them sh...

Re: 4/2 (Sat.) The Changing World Order (Host: Iris)
Thanks Iris for introducing this book to us. It's a great topic to learn. I would really want to read through the book down the line, if possible, to get more insight and prepare myself better for the possibly volatile future. I'm still in the middle of digesting all the materials, but it has become...
