Amazingly, it has been five years since we read "Sapiens" in the YoYo Reading group: http://yoyo.club.tw/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=4526 Look at this thread of discussion, how diligent we were! :) I forgot I have made the following fun open remarks for our book-reading journey: ***************************...

Re: 02/25(Sat.) AI War/Use AI to Get Ahead (Host: Iris)

Just FYI for anyone who is considering to join the meeting: I plan to share a couple of "nice-to-have" add-ons when using GPT stuff, maybe 5 min before the meeting if anyone shows up there: 1) Talk to ChatGPT: using voice to interact with ChatGPT (talk to and listen to the answers) 2) Make Siri work...

Re: 02/25(Sat.) AI War/Use AI to Get Ahead (Host: Iris)

Without a doubt, I can be replaced by AI. Have been ready to be a part of useless-class in the future. Am I suppose to let it raises my son? Haha! It’s too late for me to request that, but I am ready to hand over the control of a future myself to AI. I will use the rewind.ai app to record my everyd...

Re: 02/25(Sat.) AI War/Use AI to Get Ahead (Host: Iris)

Cool. We have done a warm-up last night. There are more experienced ChatGPT users for this Saturday's meeting now. I think we can learn more this time. Great! The warm-up is the necessary precursor to my meeting. :) One more small trick I'll share with everyone is to turn on the voice mode for Chat...

Re: 02/25(Sat.) AI War/Use AI to Get Ahead (Host: Iris)

Just FYI -

The meeting title and referencing materials were slightly changed, but the contents remain pretty much the same.
The discussion will focus on:
a) What do we know about the progress of AI competition in the current high-tech industry?
b) What are the impacts and opportunities?

Thanks!

Re: 2/21 (Tue.) ChatGPT (Host: Rock)

For Q3: What other things can you do with chatGPT now? I've been using it to do quite a few things: 1) Plan my trip in many aspects: Ask ChatGPT to generate a few versions of the itinerary based on my criteria, recommend places to visit, and list a few possible hotels with your preference, like how ...

How to Come Prepared to a YoYo Meeting? -- by Iris I think we all agree that YoYo hosts are meticulous in their preparation for our discussions. They put a lot of effort into researching and selecting interesting topics, and creating thought-provoking questions. We may also agree that coming unprep...

Re: 2/7(Tue.)Does language preservation matter?Elon Musk's Proposal for Taiwan(Host:Michael)

Rock’s comments cracked me up, as usual! Sherry’s logic is always very thorough and hard to challenge. Language is a living organism. It is not like a fossil or a historical artifact preserved in museums. When we are learning a foreign language, even if it is still popular, and not dying, if we don’...

Re: 1/31 (Tue.) pleasantries after CNY | Connections review (Host: Tashi)

Before my 3-month trip to the US, I was a bit worried, “Am I going to ruin the friendship because of staying too close and too long?” I still went and stayed for three months. After I came back, I have been wondering what my relationship with myself is now. I've stopped doing meditation since I arri...

Thanks, Rock! I did mean to discuss the social mobility, as described in the session I title: The Decline of Upward Mobility, but I might be sidetracked to generation differences. The 6 minutes learning English with BBC in your link is actually a very nice talk for this topic: http://http-ws.bbc.co....

Some statistics and information related to tonight's topics, for your reference: Some facts and statistics about millennials and baby boomers: • Millennials currently hold 6% of the total wealth (of the country). • When boomers with the same age as millennials in 1989, they had 21% of the total weal...

Q1. What are the characteristics of difficult people? What kinds of personalities are difficult to handle?
--> Whatever to describe your spouse would probably be good answers for this question. :)

1/17 (Tue.) Why It’s Harder to Earn More Than Your Parents? (Host: Iris)

***** ATTN: THE MEETING WILL BE HELD ONSITE AT DANTE ***** Over 90% of Baby Boomers earn more than their parents did, but that’s not the case for subsequent generations. According to the statistics from Opportunity Insights, millennials and Gen Z are worse off than their parents and are likely to r...

Re: 1/10 (Tue.) Can we end war? (Host: Miller)

Secondly, for rules of war, I am not so much against it. Torture is way, way, way worse than death in my mind. If any rules to prevent or reduce torture, I would say that’s the least the sane can do to punish the insane. It is hard to measure, but war, death and torture are in different scale for me...
