What color should you paint your house? Below are recommendations made by experts based on color pyschology. That is, based on how color impact our mood, appetite, and energy level.

Colors in the red, orange and yellow families are referred to as "warm" colors since they evoke images associated with heat, like fire or sunshine. As a result they make us feel warm in a psychological sense.

Red
This powerful color increases blood pressure and heart rate. It often produces feelings of intimacy, energy, passion and sexuality. It also stimulates the appetite and is often used in restaurants and is an excellent choice for dining rooms in the home.

Orange
Like red, orange warms a room but in a less dramatic and passionate way. The mood and attitude of orange is more friendly than fiery; more welcoming than seductive. Orange works well in living rooms and family rooms and is also a good choice for children's bedrooms.

Yellow
In their bedrooms, elderly people report that yellow lifts their mood. But bright yellow can be too strong and may actually cause anxiety in infants, young children and the elderly.

Blues, greens, violets and their intermediates are considered cool colors because of their references to pastoral landscapes and ocean vistas. When we look at these colors they elicit feelings of peace, tranquility and relaxation.

Blue
Soothing blue is an ideal bedroom color choice for adults and children. But that same blue that lulls us to sleep also suppresses our appetites, possibly because there are very few naturally blue foods. Put blue to bed, but try and keep it out of the dining room.

Green
Light greens work well in baths and living rooms; mid-range greens are a great accent for kitchens and dining rooms. The calming effect of green makes it popular in hospitals, schools and work environments.

Violet
Despite the favorable response violet elicits in children, many adults dislike purples. Children's bedrooms and play areas may be good places to experiment with this color family.

Hi YOYOs,
Something you may like to know more about colors.
In recent years, some researchers have developed theories about the effects of color on our lives. For example,
light blue can make people feel more patient and loving.
Red is full of energy; if you are always tired, perhaps you could buy yourself a bunch of red roses.
If you feel sad or afraid, try wearing something orange, it is the color of courage.
Yellow is a color that can help you study better, so if your mind is lazy, you can try putting some yellow decorations around your desk.
And if you want to lose weight, try using dark blue dishes or black dishes; it may destroy your appetite!

Sherry knows many symbolisms of color in a particular country.
She is a person who made a careful research before coming to the meeting ( she did a very good job).
So, Sherry, would you please post on the board and share what you have learned with all members? Thank you.

Many thanks for our sweet and beautiful hostess Claire. It was an interesting evening, and the story re-writing and telling was really amusing.

The following is the symbolisms of colors as far as I know. Please correct me if there are any mistakes:

1. In most Asian cultures, yellow is the imperial color as purple in the west.

2. In China, white is symbolic of mourning and death, while in the US people use black.

3. In Europe, colors are associated with political parties (as Taiwan!). In many countries black is synonymous with conservatism, red with socialism, while brown with the Nazis. (To check the connection between the Nazis and brown, you may just google "Nazi" and "Brownshirt" and see the result.)

4. In Islamic culture green and gold are the colors of paradise. Also, you can find green to be a religious symbolism by checking the national flags of the Muslim world. Libya has a traditional solid colored Islamic flag. Most part of the flags in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia is green. And the flags in Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iran....have green stripe.

You may want to check the color of the flags in Arab countries by yourself:

Further, if you are interested in the Islamic rules about flags, this article is helpful:

I'd like to taste "moose" to see if it is delicious. So far I have only had "goose".

In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.

Words and phrases concerning "color":

The colors of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet

Clinical forms of color blindness - Red-green color blindness, Blue-yellow color blindness, Total color blindness (or Achromatopsia)

If you want to say "This is my favorite color", you can just shorten it as "This is my color".
His wife is having an affair.
Alternatives for "having an affair": be unfaithful; be cheating on
If a person wears a green hat, others think that his/her spouse has been unfaithful.
'Having a green hat' metaphorically means a man's wife is cheating on him.
