Digital Life: 2Be or not 2Be? [5/19]
Digital Life: 2Be or not 2Be? [5/19]
Dear all:
This is my fist time to be host in yoyo, and it's my honor to host next Wednesday's meeting (5/19). ^^ .
We are going to talk about “Digital Life ".
As we know, the emergence of wireless and high-speed networking technologies made a great impact on our life. They can help us automate repetitive human tasks, control a wealth of physical devices in the environment, find the information we need, and enable us to work together with other people through space and time.
However, new technologies also bring some defects, such as the risk of a growing digital divide, doubt about health issues, stand-by energy consumption, concerns for waste and recycling.
But, parts of the people still believe its benefits outweigh potential negative effects or public concerns .cause it offers the chance to decrease use of raw materials and energy. For instance, electronic transaction and storage reduces the need for travel and transportation; smaller products mean less raw material and some new services do away with physical products altogether, as in the case of the answering machine.
「Questions」:
1. Emerging technologies have brought us closer to film's vision of the future. Let’s discuss about what picture of Digital Life you image in your mind?
2. Are you always excited to get a new product? Do you aspire to have a smart home/eHome to improve the quality of life? Or just want to put away all the modern possessions and returned to nature?
3. Do you agree the benefit of Digital Life outweigh its potential negative effects? What is your opinion?
4. Nowadays our personal data are stored in computer, and always transform via internet. It is important to protect personal information from falling into a snare. Have you ever suffered torments from “Swindling Call”? Please tell us about your experiences.
