Session I

http://unofficialnetworks.com/2013/06/v ... t-offering

1. What do you think is the reason that more than 30 climbers just passed by without giving him a hand? Should we blame the bystanders or David himself, who didn’t have a solid backup plan?

2. Would you walk past a dying person on Mt. Everest without helping him? Or would you risk your life to save him?

3. Reaching the summit of Mountain Everest is the magnificent dream of all climbers. Is there any dream that you are desperate to achieve in your life?

Session II

http://inspiredeconomist.com/2013/11/25 ... va-valley/

1. Israel exports vegetables and fruits to Europe, the US, and Russia even though more than half of the land area is desert. What do you think is the rationale that cause the miracle?

2. Israel was re-established in 1948 and has become strong despite being surrounded by enemies. Do you think it is Jewish character or the government’s policies that make it happen?

3. The territory of Israel is around two-thirds of Taiwan. What’s the pros and cons of Taiwan in each aspect, including economy, politics, and society, etc.?

To be honest, I don’t know how I would respond under an intimidating circumstances such as in a battle field or at the Mount Everest. It is my belief that people would never find or show their true self until their humanity is being challenged.

It’s hard to blame people for not helping others if it could risk their lives. That's why Forest Gump won a medal in the army. The reason what the climbers did is controversial is not because they left the dying person there and went home. They did try to save him but in vain. The controversy here is the climbers didn’t do it in the first place. That means they give summiting the Mount Everest a priority higher than saving a human's live.

The world is a safe place if human beings stay low. The highest place, i.e., Mountain of the Holy Mother, is not a tourist spot; it's extremely dangerous. Anyone who dares to challenge Her is not a normal person. They are courageous, spiritual, adventurous, rich, vain, selfish, masochistic, or simply stupid. If I were one of them, maybe I wouldn't help a dying my-own-kind, either.
Would you follow the rules of the jungle if you lived there?

It seems that there are a few versions of David Sharp's story. What exactly happened on the top of Everest probably remains only in those who were there at that moment. They might have their own judgment and calculation at that point of time. I am not a mountaineer, it's easy for me to say that If I were there, I would give up the goal - getting to the top, and make "saving a life" a first priority. But will it be very difficult to give up this once-in-a-lifetime dream for true mountaineers, especially when they are so close to it? Maybe.

For Session II:
It is incredible that 800 families can produce 60% of the total export volume of fresh vegetables from Isreal”, but, it is more amazing that such a small country with disadvantages of soil and water conditions can even export their produce to other countries! No matter you like or dislike this country, you have to “admire” them a bit.

Drip irrigation technology has been around for decades, but I did not know some of the basic, such as, if water does not touch the leaves, then there is no pesticides needed. If that is true and if that can be applied in Taiwan, it can really solve a lot of our overuse of chemicals and pesticide issues. But it is a big "IF", Taiwan is very humid, even with the drip irrigation, can we really do without pesticides?

well said!!

by the way, guess i will never admire those who risk their lives to fulfill personal ambitions, no matter how great their achievement is. and if they have to suffer, they suffer the consequences. the bed is made by themselves.
