The big trend is actually "interdisciplinary" studies now, which I think better reflect both industry demands and how the world really operates.

I can’t recall the context of our conversation (geez…a symptom of ammesia?), but I guess in Taiwan, when we talk about 文科, most of the time we mean majors in 第一類組or at least part of it. I just checked the website of my alma mater and found they translate 文學院 (which includes 中文系, 歷史系, 哲學系) into “College of Liberal Arts”. For 第一類組, it contains colleges of Liberal Arts, Law, Commerce, Social Sciences, Foreign Languages and Literature, Communication, International Affairs…… This is complicated for me :shock:
