Hi All,

Recently, I come across this great topic – Career Management during my company’s in-house training Program - Harvard ManageMentor. There are some thoughts might help you to shape your career path………

As you think about your career development, keep in mind that the career landscape is changing.
career ladders: In the days of traditional bureaucracies, career ladders were the rule. In a career ladder, employees advance in their careers in a fixed, linear progression. They “climb” upward within a functional area—such as finance, marketing, or operations—and develop deep, specialized knowledge along the way.
career lattices: In today’s agile, team-based organizations, career lattices predominate. In a career lattice, there are no fixed career paths, but rather many possible ways to advance. Individuals may move upward or laterally—or even take a few steps back—as they continuously broaden and renew their skills.

Questions:
  1. As you manage your career, how will you answer below questions:
  2. What type of career landscape is fit for your career goal? (Career ladder、Career Lattice)
  3. Does this career goal allow you to develop skills that are most interesting and important to you?
  4. What career goals would be the most costly—in terms of personal regrets and missed opportunities—if you didn’t pursue them?
  5. Have you chosen career goals that would be viewed positively by the people who matter most to you?
  6. How are you feeling in each domain of your life: work, family, community, and self? Are there discrepancies between what is important to you and how you’re spending time and energy?
