Hi Yoyoers, it finally becomes my turn to be host in this quality English club. I would like to take this chance to discuss/ share experience about people’s psychological status. Hopefully we can get some hint or inspiration from this meeting topics and take meaningful action into your daily life after you believe it. Let’s make our life healthier not only physically but mentally.

1. What’s your general image about stress before you watch this video?
2. Do you agree with what the speaker says about stress? Normally we think stress is negative toward our job and healthy life.
3. When people face stress, hormone called Oxytocin will appear, do you believe that hormone can make people better?
4. Do you believe stress make people more resilient, compassionate and social, become your friend? If yes, please make some examples according to your experience

I accidentally watched a movie called “I Feel Pretty” during my business trip to SG on airplane, even though it look like a romantic comedy but it impressed me how powerful it is if building confidence about yourself. That’s the motive I choose this inspirational topic to share with you guys.

1. Do you have any failure story happen to you because you lack of confidence?
2. Do you have any successful story happen to you because you own huge confidence when you deal with it?
3. What do self-confidence mean to you? Do you think build up self-confidence can be trained or it’s related to personality, not easy to change? Share your experience
4. What’s most impressive sense of accomplishment you have had so far?

Both speeches are very practical for our personal development.
Stress can be like cancer cells consuming our energy and health, but they are part of our body, or, part of us. If we cannot get rid of them, maybe making peace with them is better than unhappily fighting with them. Simply put, we need to learn to deal with stress in a more positive attitude, but to be honest, it is a lifelong learning process! :)

Yes, it's definitely lifelong learning process and need perseverance to repeat again and again. Some theory looks useful and healthy for our life but when it comes to implementation, sometimes become another story. Welcome participants' enthusiastic discussion about the theory and practice listening and speaking ability through watching Ted speech and expressing opinions in the meeting!

Hi Iris and Way,

I couldn’t agree with you more on that mastering the skills of stress management and building up self-confidence is a life-long lesson. More than being a process where we acquire knowledge and skills externally, it is also an internal exploration - finding one’s own strength, weakness, and true beliefs. As such, they are discussion topics that I myself will never have had more than my share of.

Stress and low self-esteem may seem two irrelevant subjects at first glance but they are intimately intertwined. We feel stressful typically when dealing with something unfamiliar or when getting in over our head, namely, when we are out of the comfort zone. On the other hand, pressure makes us not our usual self and prone to mess up what we're supposedly able to handle. Self-doubt prevails consequently.
