5/7 (Tue.) Plogga (Host: Felicia)

文章 Felicia.Tong »

Hello, everyone! I am Felicia. This time we are going to talk about Plogga which is an activity generated from Sweden. Plogga means to pick up the trash when you are jogging. Many people like to jog but if people can pick up the trash at the same time. It not only makes your body healthy but also helps with our environment cleaner. Especially individuals are parts of the world. We should treat everyone, everything and environment as a wholeness to become better.

Section 1
1.Across continents, there are more and more people join in this meaningful activity. Do you want to join in? Why or why not?
2.What do you feel when you see someone littering the trash? Will you be active to tell that person? Why or why not?
3.There is a saying that a person’s room reflects his/her personality and can influence his/her life. What does your room look like? Are you an organized person or more casual one? If you are the casual one, will you want to be more organized? Or it is fine for you? Why or why not? On the contrary, if you are the organized one, will you like to be more free-style to balance? Why or why not?
4.Besides Plogga, what else activity can combine with environmental protection? In your opinion, do you consider it is a good activity? Why or why not?
Section 2
1.Since 2018, in Taiwan, a new environmental rule was released that retail stores will not provide the customers plastic bags for free. After a year from then, did you notice the difference? What are the differences? Did this rule change your life? Do you think that makes your life become inconvenient or not change much?
2.Will you pay for the plastic bag when you purchase something? Do you think it is worthy to pay or it is too expensive? If it is possible, do you want go back to the period that you don’t have to pay for plastic bags? Why or why not?
3.Do you think Plogga can be a trend in Taiwan? Why or why not?
4.Why did Plogga can be a trend in Western countries? If it cannot be popularized in Taiwan, what conditions do we lack?
5.Have you ever participated environmental protection activities? What was it? Did you like it? How did you feel? Would you want to do more?

Guess it's all about people's choice. It's either this or that in the end. There was an interesting point mentioned in the meeting about not providing plastic bag. It's argued that the environment might not be better without using plastic bag. The contention is that without using plastic bags some people would turn to using fancy paper bags. The thing is the energy consumed by one single piece of it is 200 times more than that of one plastic bag. If that's the case then, we might save the earth and some animals from plastic pollution but, at the same time, we are aggravating the problem of global warming.

Fortunately, the situation might not be that bad as we think, because plastic bags used to be almost free and provided automatically so, those fancy paper bags used will definitely be greatly outnumbered by the reducing use of plastic bags, after the enforcement of the policy. But then again, the point is, the fate of all lives on earth and the planet itself will all come down to what choices we make, such as using plastic or fancy paper bags, or none of them. If we can't make right choice, we will cause either this problem or that problem, or both and all and then, we will be doomed in the end, won't we?
i might be a cynic and, a sceptic as well but, i'm definitely not a bad person!!

I am not really in support of the idea that the state of a person’s room reflects his personality and that it has anything to do with being organized or muddled but I agree that it’s closely related to a person’s life in the way that he might not be aware of. To begin with, how your personal items are arranged and placed in the room kind of implies how much information there is. In simpler terms, our room is the only place in this world where we have total control over whatever sits inside, but even so, things start to be thrown out of balance at the moments when we are not paying attention. I discovered that if I keep my room messy and toss things around I am more likely to do something meaningless after turning back home, for example, watching porn at my laptop and vegging out. I guess it just shows whether or not someone is aware of this problem as there are some people who are not interested in politics, which doesn’t necessarily say anything about their personality in my opinion.
