10/1 (Tue.) Adaptability / Rock Bottom (Host: Andy)

文章 Andy »

Hello! I'm Andy. It's my pleasure to be the host on 10/1.

In session I, we will discuss “Adaptability”, one of the keys to success. With the changing of technology at an exponential rate, we are required to learn faster than humans have ever had to before. The behaviors we’ve honed for decades will become obsolete in a few short years. It is a trend that adaptability quotient (AQ) become the primary predictor of success, with intelligence quotient (IQ) and emotional quotient (EQ) both taking a back seat.

In Session II, we will discuss "Rock Bottom". Life can't always be smooth and tough situation build strong people. How to motivate ourselves out of rock bottom? Let rock bottom become the solid foundation on which we rebuilt our life.

Session I:
3 ways to measure your adaptability — and how to improve it

[Questions]
1. What does adaptability mean to you? Compared with IQ and EQ, do you agree that AQ will soon matter more than ever and why?

2. How adaptable are you? Do you think older people are less adaptable than younger people? Will past experience limit our adaptability?

3. When venture investor Natalie Fratto is determining which start-up founder to support, she looks for adaptability and uses three tricks below to access adaptability. Do you agree with these tricks? If you are a venture investor, how do you decide which start-up founder to support?
a. Asking “what if” questions instead of asking about the past to picture multiple possible versions of the future.
b. Looking for signs of unlearning. Active unlearners seek to challenge what they presume to already know.
c. Looking for people who infuse exploration into their life and business.

4. Do you think Taiwanese employees are adaptable or just servile to employers?

Session II:
5 Reasons Why Hitting Rock Bottom Can Change Your Life for Better

[Questions]
1. Many things may cause people to hit rock bottom, for example, losing loved ones, losing health, being bankrupt, getting divorced, being dumped, being betrayed by people you trust, getting cancer, and becoming handicapped. Have you ever hit rock bottom? What did it teach you? Or you may share some rock bottom story you know.

2. The author mentioned that it’s not the low points in life that define who we are, its rather how we deal with those low points that define who we will be. How do you feel about it?

3. Do you agree that it’s only during your rock bottom that you gain true humility, compassion, and humbleness?

4. Do you agree that it’s only during your rock bottom that you understand what truly makes you happy and what truly makes you sad, what you really care about and what is not all that important to you?

though city raccoons are not as well known as tough cockroach in this regard, you just can't underrate their adaptability. it would be beyond your imagination how good they are able to learn to adapt to a new environment. 8)
