Re: 6/2(Tue.) Colors in our life (Host: Jason)
One thing I hate about China is its favorite color: red. Why do they use this shocking color so much and so often, without feeling uncomfortable?
In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.

Yeah, even in stock markets!
How do you translate this statement into Chinese?
“Taiwan (or China) Stock Market Expected To Open In The Red”?

After you read the following article, would you still have the same translation?
"Taiwan Stock Market Expected To Open In The Red"

Re: 6/2(Tue.) Colors in our life (Host: Jason)
Oh....Iris, you set me up....haha.
I know what you mean now. I don't have to read the article to get your point.
In western world, they use red color to represent downfall in stock market, which is the opposite in Taiwan.
So the title can be translated into "台股預期開盤將一片慘綠(血流成河)"

Re: 6/2(Tue.) Colors in our life (Host: Jason)
Since red is the color of blood, so it makes sense that in western culture red indicates misfortune.
So, this makes me wonder why in Chinese culture red is the symbol of fortune. I am curious its orgin in history and the story behind it.
