Please note the meeting is not given in 丹提 but in 台北市林森北路67巷7號 3樓(近捷運中山站 or 善導寺站) which is the same place as year end party

One of my senior relative sometimes send news review through line group which I never seen this kind opinion in any media channel that I often access. Let me think he and I live in the different world.

Session One
1.
The article mention "epistemic bubble" and "echo chamber"
What is the difference between them?
Nowadays, we have more and more social media and people can easily find and subscribe to a person or media source who provides information that fits with their already-held view.
Thus, the digital information age has provided very fertile ground for echo chambers
However, it also give people more chance to access different opinion.
Do you think digital information age make echo chambers form easily or not?

2.
Are there advantages and disadvantages for people staying in the echo chamber?
Is it necessary to exit echo chamber if people think there are more pros than cons to stay in echo chamber?

3.
How do we exit echo chamber?
e.q.
1. Don't be afraid to question everything, including your own beliefs
2. Be open to hearing others’ perspectives. Don’t just teach. Be teachable.
3. You can disagree on some things without disagreeing on everything.
4. Repair broken trust on the outside of the echo chamber

Session Two
1.
The 2nd article mentioned "In these chambers, alternative ideas aren’t welcome. What’s more, they’re impervious to doubt"
In the recent referendum (公投), some KMT members blame mayor 侯 does not take sides.
Is mayor 侯's behavior a kind of exiting echo chamber?
Do you ever do something like mayor 侯?
If you are the KMT leader or core member, what do you do to maintain group cohesion when facing 侯's behavior?

2.
As mentioned in session 1, echo chamber group trust inside source and distrust outside source especially from opposite side.
Could you give some examples of echo chamber group?
Do political group, religion group, and direct sales group belong to echo chamber groups?

To make a group as an echo chamber is one way to increase group cohesion.
Furthermore, for those echo chamber groups, they use different way to increase group cohesion and avoid people leaving the group.
Could you give some examples how do they do?

Q2:
Those who stay in a particular type of echo chamber must believe they are making the right decision. Expecting them to exit the echo chamber spontaneously is unrealistic. They simply don’t feel the need to change and lack motive . It is only when people are facing a strong and undeniable evidence that is totally against their stands that they would start second-guessing the beliefs.

BTW, the questions are really difficult to answer. Leon is giving me a hard time...
