By the way, jurisdicition=管轄權
The following provision is often in contracts:
Jurisdiction and Governing Law:
"Any dispute arising from or in connection with this agreement will be submitted to Taiwan Taipei Distric Court. This agreement shall be interpreted and in accordance with laws of the Republic China."
In Chinese will be:
如因本約涉訟, 雙方同意以台灣台北地方法院為管轄法院.本合約依中華民國法律解釋並適用之.

jurisdiction有多個意思,包括"管轄區",但也有"管轄權"之意.


在文章中:
Justice Anthony Kennedy has jurisdiction over emergency appeals in cases arising in the 11th U.S. Circuit...

如譯為”法官Anthony Kennedy對美國第十一巡迴法庭 之緊急上訴案件具有”管轄區”實無意義,但如譯為”法官Anthony Kennedy對美國第十一巡迴法庭 之緊急上訴案件具有”管轄權”則屬恰當.

jurisdiction在Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English (English-Chnese/English-English)中對jurisdtion之定義為:
the right to use an official power to make legal decisions.因此
jurisdiction譯為”管轄權”應該是沒問題的.

"管轄權" 通常是區域性, 小鎮的Police 最在乎這個.
有個笑話就是local Sheriff,把壞人追到州際邊線(state border)就不追了
壞人過了state border 也不跑了,還忙著做鬼臉.
