New member of this forum comes and goes.
Just like every strangers that walk into our lives.
Some of them come with questions, some of them come with answers to our questions.
But, the persisting questions remain.
How does one's English improves?
First, you need to get the ball rolling.
Rolling ball will smooth out all kinks.
What do I mean by that?
The key to fluency is to maintain an optimum momentum.
The shark that stop swimming dies.
2nd, Like John Lennon said, "Let it in and let it out"
Which means that you have to be perceptive.
Baby's language ability is needless to say, just astounding.
Why is that?
Because babies are ultra perceptive.
3rd, the key to grammatical error elimination is self-realization.
In theory and in practice, with enough quality exposures to English,
you will be ready to correct your own mistakes.
That's it for now.
I am not abandoning Yoyo, I am just dancing slowly away from it.

Reading your writings is a big chellange for me.
I need to consult a dictionary to figure out what you meant.
Hope someday I can understand your writings without any dictionary. :ssmile:

Dear Austin

一開始心中有點小小不情願(I am shy. )
不過沒想到YOYO的人都那麼好玩...oops...是有趣~ :D

Here is an interesting fact from New York Times circa 1996

"The nuns whose sentences were grammatically complex and packed with ideas when they were in their 20's remained sharp of mind when they were in their 80's. In contrast, almost all those whose sentences were simple and comparatively devoid of complex grammatical constructions were demented six decades later."

(FYI) 新手上路 = New Comer Orientation or Prospective Member Orientation.
Hi Brian,
Let me be brutally honest...
Yoyo English Club isn't the ideal place to wean yourself from Taiwan's Chinese environment, but it is the very first step for many new comers, or more precisely, a baby step.
To be able to wean yourself completely from Chinese environment at least temporary is essential for those who wish to improve their English.
And, of course, just like cigaret-addiction, quitting is just not that easy.
I am not abandoning Yoyo, I am just dancing slowly away from it.
