I would say that the best gifts for a mother are always the happiness and healthiness of her children. Having said that, nowadays mothers have much more to consider. They worry so much, or they worry too much.
Speaking of parenting, a recently published book must have drawn the attention of many mothers. The book "Intelligence and How to Get It: Why Schools and Cultures Count" indicates that I.Q. is only half heritable; that is, your children's I.Q. is possibly to be improved by environment. To raise kids' I.Q., here is the suggestion of the author:
"praise effort more than achievement, teach delayed gratification, limit reprimands, and use praise to stimulate curiosity."
* "reprimand" is a new word in the ISG program.
