Eat a frog

文章 Wayne »

During the discussion in the meeting on August 17, 2011, Eason mentioned “eat the frog” during the discussion. Some of us were curious about its origin. Here’s some information worth knowing.

“Eat a live frog every morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” -Mark Twain

Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time (2001)

Procrastinate http://www.greatest-inspirational-quote ... n-tip.html
Most people will put off eating the frog as long as possible. Hoping something will save them or maybe the frog will disappear. As the day goes on the frog starts to haunt your thoughts.
While working on other projects or trying to relax and have fun- thoughts of the frog surface. This starts to create a sense of anxiety and stress. Your enthusiasm and satisfaction will wan and your feeling of empowerment will lessen as you feel enslaved by the impending doom awaiting you.
Ok maybe not impending doom, but you get the idea. This one thing has a negative effect on your whole day.

Procrastination Tip
Eat the fog! This is the radical idea. ;) Take a lesson from Nike and Just Do It! It may taste nasty or be an annoying or frustrating task. But accomplishing it will lighten up your mood and give you a surge of energy and enthusiasm for the day. It's an empowering feeling and it will spread into your other activities.
The Lesson
As we work on projects and organize our day there may be tasks we have to do, things we know must be accomplished, but we are not excited about. So we put them off, procrastinating and dreading the inevitable. We wind up being tormented by them all day rather than just once and getting it over with.
Shakespeare said:
Cowards die many times before their deaths.
The valiant never taste of death but once.

Be brave, use this procrastination tip to eat the frog first thing in the morning and be free of it. Live your day with passion, inspiration, and courage.
Knowledge is power -- when shared.
