「聽」是怎麼一回事？Believe/Listen to/ Hear

中文的「聽」，想起來很簡單，但卻常聽到這樣的錯誤：

（Ｘ）Don't listen to what they said. Nothing of the sort. ( 注: 根本沒有這樣的事! )

中文雖然講「聽」，英文卻不能用 listen to，因為 listen to 指「聽」的動作，但你真正的意思是「別聽」不是不讓他「聽」，而是勸告他「不要聽信」。

經常搞混的還有 hear和listen to.....
Listen to 和hear 都是"聽"的意思。Listen to強調「聽」的動作，hear 強調「聽」的結果，應該說成「聽到」。 舉例來說

Listen! Can you hear someone talking? 聽！你能聽見有人在說話嗎？

Hear 後面如果接受詞片語，常常表示「聽說」。
•I hear some foreign students will visit our school.我聽說一些外國學生將要訪問我們學校。
•I hear there is going to be a film in our school this evening.我聽說今晚我們學校要演一場電影。

根據Macmillan English Dictionary ， listen to 也有「聽從」，「聽信」的意思 。例: Don't listen to him - he doesn't know anything about it.

在上面的例句中believe 有 「聽從」，「聽信」的意思。 因此 ，用listen to 應該是沒問題的。

第一句的錯誤並不在於不可以用 listen ，而是句子的時態錯亂了。祈使句的目的在 command 或request 對方執行某個動作，因此在正常邏輯範疇內，過去已發生的事情無法 command /request ；它必然是針對當下即將發生或未來可能發生的情境，提出command /request 。因此我們回頭看看第一句：

Don't listen to what they said.
Don't listen → 很單純的祈使動作
what they said → 這是一個名詞片語做受詞用，其意指他們「已說」的話，是在過去時間的產物。

如果是在過去時間所說的話，我們在現在、未來如何能聆聽其親口說過的話呢？這是不可能發生的。但是如果改成他們在目前或未來講的話，即「what they say」，這樣就說得通了。句子就要改成：

Don't listen to what they say. 。（但我建議改為 Don't listen to anything they say. ）
意思就是他們講的話都別去聽
不過，這樣的句子有點累贅，如果要表達這個意思，用「Don't listen to them.（別聽他們講的話/ 別相信他們。）」就可以了。

我們在現在、未來如何能「聆聽」其親口說過的話呢 ： 此處listen to 本來就不做「聆聽」解釋

祈使句的目的在 command 或request 對方執行某個動作，因此在正常邏輯範疇內，過去已發生的事情無法 command /request：本祈使句的主要動詞 listen to本來就用現在時態 (前面助動詞 don’t為現在時態)，command /request的動作是listen to 不是 say

Maybe the tense is fine, depending on the content.
"What they said" in the sentence could mainly refer to a statement, i.e., "don't listen to the statement which they said", instead of the action "saying".

I consent to Wayne's point. I tried the key word " don't listen to" on google and found several articles which may be defined wrong by core corn.

"Don't listen to" above, for me, is ok to interpret to "不要聽信" in Chinese.
