National Rifle Association chief executive Wayne LaPierre has been taking heat for proposing to put arms to guards in schools as a way to prevent mass shootings. But he says he disagrees with critics who oppose the idea. “If it is crazy to call for putting police and armed security in our schools to protect our children, then call me crazy. I will tell you what the American people… I think what the American people think is crazy not to do it,” LaPierre speaking on MBC’s “Meet the Press” today. He proposed the solution on Friday when he broke the _______ silence on the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The idea has been _______ by gun control advocates such as New York mayor Micahel Bloomberg. He called the proposal a paranoid vision of the America.

The Taliban has silenced another of its critics in Pakistan as NPR xxx reported from Islamabad. The group is claiming responsibility for killing a senior minister in a suicide attack overnight. This has been among _________ attacks by the Pakistani Taliban. The latest was a suicide bombing in the northern city of Peshawar. They took the life of a senior minister named xxx. He was the leader in the Awami National Party, or ANP, and was a vocal critic of Taliban. Eight others were killed in the attack and 17 more injured. There have been at least two previous attempts on his life. The assassination came just a week after an attack on the military section of Peshawar airport and just days after several healthcare workers administrating polio vaccines of Peshawar were also gunned down.

As Hawaiians pay their final respect to the late senator Daniel Inouye, NPR’s xxx reports the Senate Democratic leader wants to make sure a replacement is appointed before any critical budget vote takes place. After calling Inouye one of the giants of the Senate, majority leader Harry Reid is asking Hawaii governor Neil Abercrombie to appoint Inouye’s successor with due haste. Reid says he wants to ensure Hawaii is fully represented in what he calls the pivotal decision the Senate will be making. Inouye’s death leaves Democrat down one seat as the Senate prepares for the possibility of voting on a measure that would avoid the fiscal cliff of tax hikes and spending cuts. Hawaii representative Colleen Hanabusa is the favorite for the post. Inouye, a fellow Democrat, endorses Hanabusa in a letter he sent to Abercrombie on the day he died.
