Let me start with a poorly composed limerick
Hopefully the list below will grow
When the blood in our brain improves its flow
Is this something that we must know?
Learn it by heart, today
And wait for the situation presents itself tomorrow.
1. Hit and run- type of auto-accident
2. Kiss and tell
3. Smash and grab- 搶銀樓的基本招
4. Smoke and mirror- 障眼法
5. Cash and carry-
6. Cause and effect
7. Lock and load
8. Divide and conquer
9. Search and rescue
10. Lo and behold
11. Slash and burn
12. Stand and deliver
13. Wine and dine

Thought you never ask...
These are cases of 1+1>2 and/or one thing leads to another.
Pairing of these words together just seemed to make so much sense when describing certain situation.
"Kiss and tell" is very straight forward. Often used to describe situation after an intimate encounter, one just need to talk about it. Sort of like the show Sex and the city is based upon.
"Smoke and mirror" is a tactic of deception. I think this idiom came from the world of magic.
Here are a few more:
Pick and choose
Used and abused
rough and tumble
Only certain words go together so nicely and used by everybody over and over again. Soon, these synergistic combination takes on a whole new meaning.
