The list of words are horizontal and ranked according to how popular/frequent they appear to be.
But, do not dismiss a word just because it is low ranking.

Indeed, the list is more artistic than scientific, nevertheless, it is good enough for its intended purposes and beyond. I surely would like to see a similar list for Chinese.
It is really a good idea to test yourself on the first few thousand words on the list see how good you really are.

start from the very left side of the word-count spectrum, players randomly pick any number from within a range and slowly move to the right in an agreeable pattern or increment. player losses when he or she can not spell, pronounce, define or translate a particular encountered word.
