Rock »

How to say this sentence?

1. Do you have the experiences of something being stolen?
2. Have you ever had the experience of someone stealing from you?
3. Have You Ever Had Something Stolen?

Which one is right or better?

Have you ever been robbed?

Here is what I got from dictionaries.

If someone is robbed, they have money or property stolen from them. [Collins COBUILD]

Someone can rob a person or place, but you cannot say that they rob an object or amount of money. Use steal: He robbed a bank, stealing cash and valuables worth $500,000. [Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English]

So my conclusion is, "rob" is not always equal to 搶 in Chinese and "steal" is not always equal to "偷" in Chinese. It is what follows that determines whether you should use "rob" or "steal." My interpretation might not be right. Please correct me if you think I am wrong.

How do I know? I'm asking for your opinion.
Come on, Luis, don't be shy. Just choose one of your favorite from the above or give me your own sentence.

Yeah, I'm confused with this problem, too. I know you can only steal something from John; you cannot steal John. If you really stole John, then you mean you took him away from his owner.(Maybe his wife?)
We can rob John but we cannot rob his money. But can we rob John without kicking his ass? I mean, if we stole his money and he didn't know it, can I tell my mother that I just robbed John?

Now I'm really confused. :(

Hi, Toshi, I think this one is good,
toshi 寫: Have you ever had something been stolen?
However, compared to this sentence copied from the internet,
3. Have You Ever Had Something Stolen?
there's still a little bit different. I wonder why and where....

I hate grammar.

Your example is in fact the same as Collins COBUILD's definition of "rob" - If someone is robbed, they have money or property stolen from them.

I think "been" is not necessary here. Just like the expression - I had my hair cut yesterday, we don't say "I had my hair been cut yesterday."

Have You Ever Had Something Stolen?
那個 p.p.

那... Have you ever had something been stolen?

In the very beginning of this song, there is a mentioning of the song being stolen from the Beatles.
What is going on here?
Let's just say that intellectual property violation isn't Charles Manson's biggest problem.

"This is a song Charles Manson stole from the Beatles.
We're stealing it back."

When you get to the bottom
You go back to the top of the slide
And you stop and you turn
And you go for a ride
Then you get to the bottom
Then you see me again, yeah, yeah, yeah

Do you, don't you want me to love you?
Coming down fast, I'm right here above you
Tell me, tell me, tell me the answer
You ain't no lover but you ain't no dancer

Helter skelter
Helter skelter
Helter skelter, ooh

Do you, don't you want me to make you?
I'm coming down fast, now don't let me break you
Tell me, tell me, tell me the answer
You ain't no lover but you ain't no dancer

Helter skelter
Helter skelter
Helter skelter, ooh

When you get to the bottom
You go back to the top of the slide
And you turn and you stop
And you go for a ride
Then you get to the bottom
Then you see me again, yeah

Do you, don't you want me to love you?
Coming down fast, I'm right here above you
Tell me, tell me, tell me the answer
You ain't no lover but you ain't no dancer

Helter skelter
Helter skelter
Helter skelter, ooh, and again

Helter skelter
Helter skelter
Helter skelter
I am not abandoning Yoyo, I am just dancing slowly away from it.
