Hi Michael,

"Trajectory" is a great word to use when describing a series of events or developments leading to or following a certain path.

In the sentence given I'd translate it into "動向" or "走向" for the "prediction" element suggested。And Wayne, "路線" is certainly applicable.

So for the whole sentence: 此決策必然將對法國政治動向產生持續性影響。

Other examples:

1) The upward debt trajectory, if not reversed soon, will put the US economy at a great competitive disadvantage.

2) Ten years later his career trajectory took another turn when he left the family business.

Hope that helps!

Kat
