My wilder guess is depending on author's preference.Kooper 寫:My wild guess is the choice of preposition depends on the nearest name before it. So my choices are (c) and (d).Sherry Liao 寫:Dear classmates,
I forgot to ask a question this morning, which raised when I was writing my summary. Please check out this sentence:
"She had great interest and talent for sketching, painting, and endless creativity of imaginary stories."
My question is about the prepositions. To explain it in detail, the sentence is saparated into two shorter ones:
(a) She had great interest in A, B and C.
(b) She had great talent for A, B and C.
To combine (a) and (b), can any of you tell me which one is correct?
(c) She had great interest and talent for A, B and C.
(d) She had great talent and interest in A, B and C.
(e) She had great interest in and talent for A, B and C.
or is there a better way to structure the sentence?

I think it should be "be interested in". If "have intestest in" is a phrase??Sherry Liao 寫:Dear classmates,

I guess so. Or we can say "She had a great interest in ..."chiron 寫:I think it should be "be interested in". If "have intestest in" is a phrase??Sherry Liao 寫:Dear classmates,

interest (in sb/sth): the feeling that you havewhen you want to know or learn more about sb/sth [Oxford]
Ex.: to feel/have/show/express (an) interest in sth
But I have to admit that I am not sure about its limitation. Is "She was interested and talented for A, B and C" more idiomatic?
