Officials are now saying that after a series of explosion and fire at a nuclear power plant in Japan they may ask the US and Japanese militaries for help. As officials struggle to deal with the fires at a storage pond, it has already sent some radioactivity into the atmosphere. NPR’s xxx in Tokyo, 170 miles from the stricken plant, has more in the fire. “The fire is taking place in a cooling pool, cooling pond to help reduce the heat that is coming out of the spent nuclear fuel. And for the second day in a row the utility is reporting that there is a fire in this area. It’s burning right now and they don’t have a lot of other information about it.” The Japanese government has set up a 24 mile no flight zone around the plant damaged by last week’s strong earthquake and tsunami. Official death toll in the wake of the quake is currently 2300 but is expected to go much higher.

containment building: A containment building, in its most common usage, is a steel or reinforced concrete structure enclosing a nuclear reactor. It is designed, in any emergency, to contain the escape of radiation to a maximum pressure in the range of 60 to 200 psi[citation needed] ( 410 to 1400 kPa). The containment is the final barrier to radioactive release (part of a nuclear reactor's defence in depth strategy), the first being the fuel ceramic itself, the second being the metal fuel cladding tubes, the third being the reactor vessel and coolant system. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Containment_building)

radiator hose: Photos convey everything. Here are photos of radiator hoses: http://www.google.com.tw/search?q=radiator+hose&hl=zh-TW&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=7YeOTd6GCcGecf3L8Y0K&ved=0CGsQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=604

What happens when a radiator hose blows? Here are two photos of it: (1)http://www.google.com.tw/imgres?imgurl=http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p47/msgvb/car-truck/upper-radiator-hose-blown.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php%3FCat%3D0%26Number%3D1188757%26an%3D%26page%3D%26vc%3D1&usg=__jav0iynq1Q_5NdItaJHFkwPUPdU=&h=480&w=640&sz=49&hl=zh-TW&start=1&zoom=1&tbnid=e1sA1cxFfyvJ4M:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&ei=coiOTdm0GozWvQPrmdWfDQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dradiator%2Bhose%2Bblows%26hl%3Dzh-TW%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D604%26site%3Dsearch%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1 , (2)http://www.google.com.tw/imgres?imgurl=http://farm1.static.flickr.com/89/236275156_372965b5e7.jpg&imgrefurl=http://flickr.com/photos/30494469%40N00/236275156&usg=__-Ld9t1UsJTLCNVq-TqKXx9whOik=&h=394&w=500&sz=139&hl=zh-TW&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=H4i54u2gS-IBKM:&tbnh=146&tbnw=190&ei=coiOTdm0GozWvQPrmdWfDQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dradiator%2Bhose%2Bblows%26hl%3Dzh-TW%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D604%26site%3Dsearch%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=344&vpy=83&dur=5744&hovh=199&hovw=253&tx=150&ty=217&oei=coiOTdm0GozWvQPrmdWfDQ&page=1&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0

An answer to the question from the Answer.com: AS in any vehicle, if the radiator hose "blows" or simply comes off, the superheated coolant will escape and you will see what looks like smoke but is actually vapor coming out from under the hood. If it's a small tear in the hose, you might only notice it when the car is stopped. If you think you're in danger of this happening to you, it's best to replace the hose before something happens as they are relatively inexpensive. Your car will overheat if you try to drive it without the hose or any of the cooling system parts in proper working order and much more serious damage can occur. Remember to glance at your vehicles temperature gauge from time to time and have the car looked at by a mechanic if you notice anything out of the ordinary.

What happens when an engine toasts? From what I googled on the Internet, it seems to be 縮缸 in Chinese (http://www.wretch.cc/blog/fbi5209982/730173)
