I think in all the four pairs of sentences either CHANCE or OPPORTUNITY refers to a particular occasion, moment or situation, why you think it's not OK to use CHANCE in the four sentences that have OPPORTUNITY?

Ex: The program gives students the opportunity to learn more about global warming. (chance not OK)
