4/1(Sat.)1.Prisoner's Dilemma 2.Debate again(Host Jason Jr.)

文章 Jason Huang »

Session 1. Prisoner’s Dilemma

Prisoner's Dilemma more description

Prisoner's Dilemma Chinese WiKi

Prisoner's Dilemma English WiKi

Questions for Discussion:
1. What would be the best options for these two? Let’s say, they are really good friends. Would you snitch your homie?
2. What are the best options for individual one, if you want to get out of there for free?
3. What would be the smarter way when the same situation happens again if you know your friend's tendency, lets say, he/she is selfish?
4. Prisoner’s dilemma can be applied to some economic cases or some sports competition, like road cycling game. For the greater good or individual benefit, can you make more examples and explain it?

Session 2. Let's Debate again: Joker Jr. Experiment

As the big fan of comic book, batman is one of my favorite series.
Please take time to check out the video. You would know the outcome of this story.
Here comes new scenario, I am your friendly neighborhood, “Joker Jr.”
I put all you kind and good civilians on one of the ferry at 23:00.
The other one is packed with convicted dead prisoners.
Since you are all good citizens, you have ten minutes ahead of prisoners ferry to press the bottom before 00:00. Which means if you don’t press it, ten minutes later, your fate would be handed to the other boat. You press it, you survive. The Key is to convince the other side in your boat.
Either boat can not contact each other. Comply with the prisoner's dilemma assumption.
Same, Joker would not tell them that they could all survive if none press the bottoms.

Here are the debate rules.
1. Break down into four groups, two for Yes teams, two for the No teams, by drawing lots.
2. After 20 minutes discussion, by drawing, we choose two groups representing the Yes and No teams. Each group picks two key speakers also by drawing for session one and session two. Each session allow to have one supporting speaker. But total debating time remains the same.
3. The rest of two groups not being picked are moderators and help evaluate the final score based on the content and skills. (Score table paper will be provided)
4. Time table: (all speakers will be chosen by drawing before discussion)
Yes Group session 1 proposal: 10 minutes. (#1 Speaker)
No Group session 1 proposal: 10 minutes. (#1 Speaker)
Yes Group session 2 proposal based on No group’s speech: 5 minutes (#2 Speaker)
No Group session 2 proposal based on Yes group’s speech: 5 minutes (#2 Speaker)

Moderators Evaluation Criteria
1. Organization and Clarity: 30%
2. Use of Rebuttal: 30%
3. Presentation Style: 30%
4. English Expression: 10%

The team got highest score will win the title and presents.
Let’s fight for your life, strength and honor!

This is how you debate!

Hey, Jason, this topic is great, and we surely will learn a lot from it. I'm looking forward to it. But,..

You call this one easy?

Sorry, but I didn't mean the English part is difficult. I meant the math part.

Again, don't worry about me or anyone. This is absolutely a great topic. Yoyo people can handle it. No problem.

BTW, this video is cute. I like it.

Bonjour,

If I could join, I would be an audience.

The heavy workload in end March was killing me,
and, I can not fight anyone among many lovely yoyoers. :ssmile:
