7/23 (Tue.) Mid-Year Look Back & Bullies (Host: Georgia)

文章 Georgia »

Session 1 Mid-Year Look Back

During this session, every participant will have the floor for 3-5 minutes to share something interesting they've done, or any tremendous change they've encountered in the first half of 2019. You are welcome to bring notes or go freestyle. Just talk when the floor is yours. :D

Session 2 Bullies

1. Have you been bullied before? What did you do? Please share your experience. If you've never been bullied before, please give a brief analysis as to why it never happened to you.
2. "How do we stop bullies" has always been the million-dollar question when this issue is brought to the table. So, how DO we stop them?
3. Some people believe that bullies are actually lonely, have very little confidence and desperate for true friendship more than their victims. What do you think?
4. A student of mine barely has friends at school. The boys in class don't play with him and body-shame him for being just a few ponds overweight. The mother, concerned that her son is being bullied by mean kids, told the father about this situation. The father asked,"Does our son feel happy about going to school and look forward to it every school night?" "Yes." "Then he is not bullied as long as he is happy. Not everyone has to be popular with dozens of friends surrounding them. If our son feels reluctant or scared to go to school because of those kids, that's when we know it's bullying for sure."
Do you agree with the father? Why or why not?
5. Assume that you are the parent of a bully at school, and your child has such a bad reputation that the parent of one of your child's victims demanded your child be transferred to a different school. What would you do?
6. Assume you are the parent of a bully's victim. Would you transfer your child away? What would you teach your child and how would you help them deal with the bullying?

To look back the student life, it seems inevitable to see someone being bullied. Or sometimes almost got bullied. Georgia has asked a very good question " Assume that you are the parent of a bully at school, and your child has such a bad reputation that the parent of one of your child's victims demanded your child be transferred to a different school. What would you do? "

I've heard of few real stories and would like to share in the gathering.

Thanks Christine! I was surprised to hear true tales about parents having to deal with the situation where their child is the bully. Shirley's story was beyond riveting, especially when she showed us a photo of the young bully who grew up to be a decent, successful, gorgeous man! Bless you all and thanks for joining me tonight!
