[討論主題] Good Luck (7/23 Sat.)

文章 David Jr. »

Hi everyone, this is David Jr. and I am glad to be the host on this Sat.
This week we are going to talk about “Luck.”
The reason why I choose this topic is because I just read a book “Good Luck : Creating the Conditions for Success in Life and Business” and I think this topic may help people to review their life.
The Chinese translation of this book is “Good Luck 當幸運來敲門.”
It’s a story about two knights, the knight in white cape and the one in black cape, seeking to find magic four-leaf clover in an enchanted forest, and along the way impart wisdom about making one’s own luck.
This is a small and interesting book and you can easily finish it in an hour. But you may get subtle meaning after reading it.
Everyone can find time to give it a try.
Say maybe go to ESLITE bookstore, pick this book up and find a corner enjoying it.

You may also go on “Google” to find more information; or check the hyperlink below to check some sections of this book.
http://www.800ceoread.com/excerpts/arch ... e_bes.html
Quite interesting!

Please also read the article below, which is written by the same authors.
http://www.businessknowhow.com/growth/goodluck.htm
The principle is the same.

Questions for reference:
1.
Think about all the experience that you’ve had from childhood to adulthood.
Are you a lucky person?
Do you always feel that you are blessed by God and everything happening around you seems to be great.
Is your luck just out of pure luck or it’s something else.
Share your experience with us.

2.
Do other people think you are a lucky guy?
Why do they think so?
Do you agree with their opinions?

3.
Read the Quote from book below,
Luck doesn’t last long,
because it does not depend on you.
Good Luck is created by each of us:
that’s why it lasts forever.

Think about the perspectives in your life.
Are you lucky enough?
(1) Career, work
(2) Relationship with family, friends, lovers and so on.
(3) Health
(4) Entertainment
(5) Education and study

So see you on this Sat.

David Jr.

an old article...share with u all..
--------------------------------------------------------------------
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture
or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world.

If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare,
especially in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile on yo ur face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can,but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them
on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God's healing touch.

If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world that can not read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know....

I'm not lucky. Why? I spent about 5000 NT dollars on Lottery annually but never won the first prize
So....maybe u r lucky....

Love Your Life
熱愛生活
Henry David Thoreau/享利.大衛.梭羅
However mean your life is,meet it and live it ;do not shun it and call it hard names.
It is not so bad as you are.
It looks poorest when you are richest.
The fault-finder will find faults in paradise.
Love your life, poor as it is.
You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hourss, even in a poor-house.
The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode;the snow melts before its door as early in the spring.
I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts,as in a palace.
The town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any.
May be they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving.
Most think that they are above being supported by the town;but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means.which should be more disreputable.
Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage.
Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends,
Turn the old,return to them.
Things do not change;we change.
Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.
There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired.

In Taiwan material wealth is closely connected with general mental health and satisfaction, that does not need to be the case. Not too long ago, a professor discover a village in India where the inhabitants managed to remain fairly happy while being dirt poor. This story is not easy to verify. Unless all members of this wonderful forum pay me to take a vacation to India on a fact-finding-mission.
I am not abandoning Yoyo, I am just dancing slowly away from it.

I think we need to distinguish the difference between being lucky and being fortunate. The latter has more deeper and longer lasting initial and residual cause and effect.

Well...that's indeed true..so... Here comes the question...can anyone aclaim they have "fortune"?
This story is not easy to verify. Unless all members of this wonderful forum pay me to take a vacation to India on a fact-finding-mission.
Huh...i do appreciate your sense of humor.
I believe our generous Yoyo's shall be very glad to share our "fortune  " with you to support your trip to India.

India is an interesting country, but not exactly a top-listed vacational paradize, unless you know where to go. Without a bodyguard, how far do I want to go beyond that 5 star resort? Answer: Not to far.

To understand the problem of poverty second handedly, here is a good book. http://www.theage.com.au/news/reviews/t ... 52175.html
