11/12(Sat) How to work 4 hours a week(Host:Kooper)

文章 Kooper »

The video clip below gives a nice summary of the book The 4-Hour Workweek, written by Tim Ferriss. If time permits, it is suggested that you watch it more than one time to get the most out of it. You have my word that it's going to be worth your time.

Questions for Discussion

Session One:
1. It is said that money creates time, mobility, and options. In your opinion, is there any other benefit of making decent money that is equally or more important than creating time, mobility, and options?

2. According to the video, what are the characteristics of the new rich? Why is being the new rich better than being the traditional rich?

3. Why does relative income trump absolute income once you have a cash flow that’s enough to support your desired lifestyle? (Hint: consider what money can do for you)

4. Tim Ferriss doesn’t think that being busy 24/7 should be trumpeted as ambitious but considers it the product of lazy thinking. Do you agree? Why or why not?

Session Two:
5.
5.1 Is eliminating unimportant activities essential for us to become truly productive? What have you eliminated and that makes you a more productive person?

5.2 What is the 80-20 rule? How does the rule have something to do with practicing elimination? Share with us a successful example of applying 80-20 rule to your work or personal life and that help boost your productivity.

6. What is Parkinson’s law? How can we overcome this law and get more done in less time?

7. Have you tried to outsource repetitive or time-consuming tasks to save your time? What task is it and how much did the outsourcing stuff cost you? Overall, do you consider that attempt successful or fruitless? If you haven’t tried outsourcing, please examine your daily activities and pick one that you should pay someone else, or have machine or software, to do it.

8. According to the video, what tasks should be eliminated while what should be outsourced? What key factor decides whether it should undergo an elimination or an outsourcing?

Bonus question: Please summarize the approaches that Tim Ferriss introduces to joining the new rich.
