Dear Yoyoers,

I am Tom Lee, and lucky to host the last meeting of 2022.
We are goint to talk about the job title inflation. We may meet a lot of directors, presidents in our real life. When we get their name card, we will think how cool they are. But are they real directors, or presidents? The title maybe not suits for them, but the title is really good for them. We are going to discuss the topic. Welcome to join us, every pre-presidents, president, and future presidents.

Inflated job titles are of little concern to me. On the contrary, they can bring great advantage to a company if being used properly. A case in point, for an employee with a customer-facing role, an impressive job tile makes it a lot easier for them to get hold of key decision makers within customer companies and win business.

Also, it is not uncommon for companies nowadays to adopt a dual job title system; one is internal job title and the other is external one. In the system, only very limited number of people can access the information of an employee’s internal job title, which is relatively confidential and rigid. External job titles are more public, both externally and internally. They are being printed on business cards, being shown on a company’s hiring pages, and are what other employees know about the person’s job position. External job titles are where recruiters and people managers have discretion and where a little bit of creativity and flexibility could do the trick to attract and retain top talent.
