7/25 (Tue.) Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (Host: Ramesh)

文章 janet12tw »

As the field of Artificial Intelligence continues to advance rapidly, it becomes increasingly crucial to address the ethical implications associated with its applications. During the gathering, we will explore various facets of AI ethics, including privacy concerns, bias and fairness, accountability, etc. Please follow the following links for videos that would be helpful in our discussion.

(Note: in the beginning of the first video, it may be slightly difficult for some to follow the accent. In that case, you may turn on the captions in the settings).

Questions:

Session 1
1. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence language model developed by OpenAI. Have you used ChatGPT? If so, for what purposes? Do you trust the results, why or why not? What is your opinion about using AI as a language tool.

2. The linked videos discuss several pillars or principles, such as fairness, explainability, data privacy etc., that are necessary in an AI model to be trustworthy. How do you think that AI results can be unfair or it can discriminate against certain group of people?

3. Why is it important that that AI model is explainable? (If time permits, you may also discuss other principles (pillars) outlined in the links or add your own principles that you think are important for AI).

Session 2

1. Accountability: In light of the fact that AI has a self learning capability, who should be held responsible if an AI system causes harm or makes a detrimental decision?
2. What are the ethical implications of using AI in military or defense applications, particularly in the context of autonomous weapons systems?
