Let's discuss long-lasting and amazing principles!

“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, written by Stephen R. Covey, has sold more than 40 million copies and been translated into 40 languages. It presents a holistic, integrated, principle-centered approach for solving personal and professional problems.

No matter how competent one is, they will not have sustained and lasting success unless they can effectively lead themselves, influence, engage and collaborate with others, and continuously improve and renew their capabilities.

The seven habits are as follows:

1. Be proactive
2. Begin with the end in mind
3. Put first things first
The above 3 habits cover an Independent phase!

4. Think win/win
5. Seek to understand first, before making yourself understood
6. Learn to synergize
The above 3 habits cover an inter-dependent phase!

7. Sharpen the saw

Session 1

1. Among the 7 habits, which habit do you think will come most easily to you? Which habit do you think you’ll struggle with the most?

2. With respect to being proactive, what approaches have you taken to solve problems or what different ways have you chosen to face challenges, instead of finding excuses or blaming environment, partners, friends, parents or teachers?

3. Concerning putting first things first, do you agree that in a relationship, the little things are the big things? How do you make an emotional bank account?

4. Concerning putting first things first, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett think “being focus” is the most important element in their lives. What are “first things” for you? How do you organize and execute around your most important priorities? How do you tackle with urgent but not important matters?

Session 2

1. In terms of beginning with the end in mind, imagine your funeral, how would you like funeral attendees to describe you and your life? How would you like them to see what kind of characters in you? How would you like them to remember your contribution and achievements?

2. With respect to win/win, do you agree that “In the long run, if it isn’t a win for both of us, we both lose”? Do you think that we base our self-worth on comparisons and competition? Do you have any ideas why win/win is a balancing act between courage and consideration? How do you cultivate your abundant mindset?

3. With respect to understanding others, how do you avoid (1) being judgmental, (2) detecting others’ privacy based on personal values, (3) providing advice based on personal experience and (4) assessing others’ behavior and motivations based on ourselves’?

4. Concerning synergy, it is the habit of creative cooperation. Valuing differences is what really drives synergy. How do you value the mental, emotional, and psychological differences among people? Do you wish everyone would just agree with you so you could all get along? Are you open to others’ influence?
