The year 2023 marked the widespread incorporation of generative AI into our daily lives. In the beginning, many people used theses AI tools out of curiosity or for entertainment. Now, people turn to generative AI to seek assistance in their studies, ask for advices, or use it to find or synthesize information. Moreover, this technology is also being used for coding, as well as the creation of images, audios and videos. Further information is provided below for you to catch a glimpse of what generative AI is and will be capable of.

Questions for Discussion
Session I
1. In the science fiction film, “Her”, the protagonist develops a deep emotional bond with an AI operating system. With the development of ChatGPT-empowered robots (like NEO in the video above), it’s only a matter of time before we bring this “cloud lover” to reality. And human-AI romances could become even more flourishing. What potential consequences do you think might arise from falling in love with AI robots?
2. Many human models and influencers have undergone cosmetic surgeries to catch the eyes of the audience, while the appearance of AI models can promptly adapt to the changing trend easily. Do you see that AI models will become common and find success on social media and even adult content platforms?
3. Although advanced chatbots as those on Character.AI, can be customized to be an ideal partner and simulate emotional responses to offer emotional support, the depth and complexity of human emotions and connections still remain challenging to replicate. What potential risks do you envision associated with excessive interaction with AI characters concerning one’s social life?
4. What’s your experience of interacting with influencers on social media? Do you believe AI influencers can effectively engage with audiences resembling a real person, or the lack of genuine experiences from physical interactions may hinder their connection with the followers?
Session II
5. ElevenLabs is a text to speech and AI voice generator, which can clone your voice given just one minute of your voice clip. And with the power of diffusion model and efficient pose guider, a reference image of yours can be converted to an animation. What verification methods can you come up with to address potential fraud by leveraging these AI technologies?
6. Recently in Germany, a Lutheran church hosted an AI-generated service in which ChatGPT, personified by an avatar of a bearded man on a screen above the altar, led most of the activities. What is your opinion about this experimental service? Do you believe that the integration of AI into religious practices will be prevailing?
7. Artificial intelligence (AI) is already being used in health care. AI can look for patterns in medical images to help diagnose disease. Would you consider seeing an AI doctor to avoid waiting for weeks or even months if it proves to be comparable to a human doctor? What concerns do you have if you choose not to?
8. Are there any specific professions that you believe will not or should not be replaced by artificial intelligence?
