11/12(Tue) Train your willpower (Host by Tim Lee)

文章 TKTim »

Listen up!!! All of you are going to challenge yourself! Right here! Right now!
You can't make your own promise to people and yourself. You need to be here :x
Oh! I almost got to my ideal weight, just one more kg, nah forget about it. You need to be here :x
I should finish something, I will push it till tomorrow. You need to be here :x

It was only around the middle of 2023, I discovered this particular subject that I missed throughout the years. Growing up, the people around me talked about it but never really took a closer look and were never bluntly honest with themselves. Can I make it when things get rough?

Here are two articles for you to understand this old friend of ours.
The first one is particularly interesting to me, it talks about this part of our brain called "Anterior Mid-Cingulate Cortex". It could be a physical structure that represents this "Willpower" we like to talk about.

1. Scientific evidence of the brain part relates to will power

2. What you need to know about willpower: The psychological science of self-control

Session 1
Q1. What's willpower? Is it something that can be trained over time?
Q2. What are the biggest challenges to maintaining willpower?
Q3. How does the environment affect willpower? (friends, work, culture...)

For session 2, I will be happy to introduce a crazy dude called David Goggins, who is still my life coach figure. And people say he is the hardest man on earth, and I won't think of challenging him about that for sure.

To give you a simple look at what he is like, here are some quotes that he not only said but did.
- Sometimes we forget how badass we are.
- you don't get succeed you get the opportunity to succeed.
- I don’t stop when I’m tired, I stop when I’m done.

4. Shorts - Performance Without A Purpose | David Goggins

Session 2
Q1. What's in your cookie jar, or anything you want to put in?
Q2. How do you maintain discipline when no one is watching?
Q3. When you feel like quitting, how do you find the will to keep going?
Q4. How do you find the balance between pushing yourself and avoiding burnout?
